Shotokan Karate of America

L.A. Dojo Dues

L.A. Dojo dues are $50 per month.

Because we are part of Shotokan Karate of America, a national organization, we ask members to pay Dojo dues and after the first few months, SKA national dues.
Both the SKA and L. A. Dojo are non-profit entities, so both Dojo and national dues go toward providing facilities and programs for SKA members to learn Karate.
Specifically, L. A. Dojo dues allow us to rent the Dojo and provide for its upkeep. All our instructors are volunteers. There is no fee for grading at any level.

SKA national dues pay for the upkeep of SKA headquarters and for the SKA national monthly national newsletter. All members receive a bi-monthly newsletter, SKA membership card, and student handbook.
Furthermore, SKA national membership is recognized at all SKA Dojos worldwide, and SKA members can practice at all of them.
Membership in the SKA also entitles members to take part in national functions such as Special Trainings and the Nisei Week Tournament and Demonstration (the oldest annual karate tournament in the USA).

SKA dues are $75 per year for non-black belts and $150.00 per year for black belts. New members get a $25 discount on their first year's dues.

If you are interested in joining us, or want more information, please contact us at the Dojo, either by phone at 310-839-8545, by electronic mail at, or by coming to the Dojo when a class is scheduled.
